When you move muscles in your body, your brain first sends an electrical current to instruct them to move. Arasys simply bypasses the brain and sends a current directly to the muscles instructing them to contract. The current however does not provide the energy for the muscles to fulfil the instruction, so the muscles use the fat stored immediately around them (i.e, excess energy) as fuel. This results in the burning up of fat and hence the inch loss. The waste products are flushed through the body, and as Arasys has a diuretic effect it is important to drink as much water as possible to encourage the body to dispel the waste.

The Arasys system pulses for 20 minutes to allow the muscles to take in oxygen and release waste. The muscle contractions are the same as reached through isometric exercise, and help drain the lymph system as well as working on cellulite and muscle tone in the same way as exercise would. There are no cardiovascular effects however, and as the intensity increases you should be able to see the muscles contracting.

Even someone who exercises regularly can benefit from the Arasys System; it has an advantage over exercise in that it also isolates the lazy muscles such as the inner thigh and really works those areas. With weights and exercise it is very difficult to give the muscles an exact and controlled stimulation, and the Arasys achieves a regulated pulse which causes a contraction far stronger than a simple twitch that would be achieved under normal exercise. It might take 2-3 hours in the gym to attain the same effects that can be gained in one Arasys session.

The Arasys System is medically recognized and was designed and built by the pioneer of the pacemaker, Gerry Pollock.

  • How does it work
    We only work on the areas that you want to concentrate on. We put pads on those areas which send a current to the muscles to stimulate them. It works in the same way as exercise and you can actually see the muscles contract.
  • How often should I use it
    Ideally the whole course of 12 should be completed in four weeks.
  • Should I do a whole course
    To maximize results and maintain them you should do a course of 12. If you only do two or three it is like working out at the gym 5 or 6 times – you need to go regularly to see a lasting difference.
  • Do I need to diet
    If you simply wish to tone and shape then dieting is not necessary. If however you wish to reduce your size then you will maximize the effects by eating carefully and cutting out high calorie foods.
  • What do I need to bring
    If you wish you may bring a change of underwear as the pads are damp.
  • How long is a session
    The treatment takes 20 minutes, so allow 30 minutes in total for preparation at the beginning and getting ready again at the end.

I get asked a lot of questions about LED Photofacials, here are the most common.

What results can LED Photofacials achieve?

Because LED Photofacials are a proven treatment with visible results all clients will experience improved skin hydration, firming, reduced signs of aging – including reduction in wrinkle depth.

Can LED Photofacials improve skintone?

Clients with minor skin problems will achieve a reduction in redness. Pigmentation and uneven skin tone will be reduced and in some cases eliminated.

Will LED Photofacials help acne?

Acne inflammation will subside and internal healing stimulated to reduce acne lesions and heal acne scarring.

How long will the results last?

Results can last for several months following a course of 6 treatments. I advise maintenance sessions to ensure longer lasting results, on average having a single treatment every 4-6 weeks.

Are LED Photofacials safe?

LED Photofacials are a 100% safe, effective, non-invasive therapy.

Are there any side effects?

There are no side effects. It is pain free and there are no harmful wavelengths of light emitted during the treatment. With no UV and no Infrared it’s safer than natural daylight on the skin. LED Photofacials promotes the body’s own natural healing response and is a natural way to target many skin concerns from ageing to acne scarring.

Will it damage my eyes?

No. Dermalux has been tested to international standards for eye safety EN62471. The design of the therapy heads means that the device does not directly shine into your eyes.

Is it hot?

No unlike traditional filament bulbs LEDs do not contain a filament. They produce light energy with very little thermal energy. The Dermalux™ treatment heads do not get hot nor feel hot against the skin.

Are LED Photofacials comfortable?

LED Photofacials are more comfortable and less claustrophobic than traditional LED devices.

What is Phototherapy or Photofacial?

Phototherapy, or Photofacial, is the use of light to alter biological activity. Phototherapy involves exposing cells or tissue to low levels of light in the visible or near infrared part of the spectrum.

When light of these wavelengths penetrate the skin they are absorbed by the mitochondria of the cell which starts a cascade of inter and extracellular reactions that promotes healthier skin.

These reactions first begin when the light is absorbed by the cells mitochondria and continue to work even after the light has been switched off.

Phototherapy is not a new science and today over 1000 clinical studies have studied the effects of light on our bodies and on many cellular processes demonstrating that light:

  • Enhances the production of adenosine triphosphate or ATP which enhances cellular metabolism and proliferation
  • Enhances cellular homeostasis, repairing imbalances within the cell and between cells
  • Increases blood flow and lymph activity to eliminate toxins and accelerate healing, and reducing acne inflammation.
  • Enhances RNA and DNA synthesis to improve reproduction of healthy cells

About the treatment

Plasma Pen, a revolutionary skin tightening technology that provides a non-surgical solution for lifting, and reducing excess skin. Eyelid Lift – Non-Surgical Blepharoplasty

Plasma Pen treatment is hugely popular for non-surgical blepharoplasty, more commonly known as the ‘non-surgical eyelid lift’. Rather than having to cut away excess skin with invasive cosmetic surgery Plasma Pen treatment is a safer and effective alternative for those looking to tighten and lift the skin around the eye area. The typical procedure time for the eye area would be 30-60 minutes with a recovery time of approximately 5-7 days. Results can last up to 3 years. How to decipher the difference!

♦️Medically licensed skincare have a higher concentration of active ingredients and have to prove activity on their indications. If there is an active ingredient in an over the counter cosmetic product, there just may not be enough of it to have an effect, or it may take much longer to get an effect. It’s more a case of what works best for you and can vary on your skin type and condition.

♦️It’s all about the layers – Cosmetic can only make claims about changing the appearance of the skin whereas medical skin products penetrate the skin cross the dermal epidermal junction and change the structure or behaviour of the skin. Medically licensed products skincare can only be prescribed – or advised by a medically lead clinic ie a Dr or Nurse. With one of the biggest benefits being ongoing support. Along with high research standards, purity and safety regulated by the FDA.

Acne and Rosacea Association UK – ARA UK – Accredited

Bournemouth-based Mary Anne Beauty and Aesthetics is now an Accredited Treatment Centre of the Acne and Rosacea Association UK (ARA UK).

This accreditation was achieved after Mary Anne, Registered Nurse trained with the ARA (UK) founder, Professor Tony Chu.

Professor Tony Chu created the ARA (UK) charity in order to educate doctors, clinics, dermatologists, nurses and pharmacists about acne and rosacea. Training includes understanding the development of these common skin problems, complications that may arise and how to effectively treat the many different cases.

The ARA (UK) says that acne and rosacea are both quite common in the UK:

  • Rosacea affects 1 in 10 people

The condition can affect not only the appearance of the skin but also the quality of life, confidence and self-esteem.

The Acne and Rosacea Association UK charity says:
